"This is with no question in my mind the best Woody Shaw album he ever did. His playing on Bemsha Swing is one of the very finest trumpet solos I've ever heard and should be required listening for all jazz players."
Great Woody

"If you like Woody Shaw you will definitely enjoy this set. Recorded live in Detroit at Baker's Keyboard Lounge with the fabulous Geri Allen on piano"

"this album sounds tender in comparison with woody's earlier music. i think that he plays with more melody in his latter work, not to say that his early stuff isnt melodic because i really havent heard (other than like 3 tracks on rosewood) something with woody on it that wasn't chronic"
