"This recording is just so cool! Little Sonny has got to be one of the funkiest harp players ever. His sound is very full and dynamic. His band is one solid, rockin', funkified unit. To me, they sound as though they have fused electric delta blues and James Brown style funk. And, believe me, they do it effortlessly. These guys are first-rate musicians who have honed their style for years in some of the greasiest bars in Detroit. If you don't love this CD, you have got a hole in your soul. If this isn't your thing, then I would suggest some Bee Gees or maybe ABBA."

"I just heard Eli's Pork Chop, an amazing blues harmonica instrumental, on KPLU here in Seattle. It is truly one of the greatest non-guitar, rockin', blusey instrumentals I've ever heard. I'm looking forward to the rest of the CD."

"Recorded somewhere in Detroit sometime between 1969 and 1972, Little Sonny is a legend. Look no further than "Hot Potato" and "Eli's Porkchop" to offer some of the sweetest harp solo's ever recorded! I think there's a freeway running through the old neighborhood where they recorded this album, but taste a sample of "New King of the Blues Harmonica" and you'll see how Detroit used to jam."
