"Little River Band were formed from rock veterans who had paid their dues in other bands.Dutchman Beeb Birtles and Canadian Graham Goble came from the group 'Mississippi' and Glen Shorrock from a great band called 'Axiom'.They also had classically trained Ric Formosa,Bass guitarist George McCardle, drummer Derrick Peccelli and later American Wayne Nelson.Named after a signpost on the road to Melbourne,LRB were the only group to have a top ten single in the USA from 1978 to 1982.Their early albums featured superb long epic tracks like "It's a Long Way There,Another Runway and Light Of Day".They were the first Australian group to have a million selling album and were nominated for a Grammy award for "Lonesome Loser".Their best album "Night Owls" was actually rejected by their American record company Capitol Records saying that "it wasn't commercial enough".They eventually released an album with that name with some different tracks, but not the superb original.Little River Band had great success from 1976 to 1983 with 13 US top forty hits and numerous gold and platinum albums. In 1984 their popularity dropped with the departure of the band's key harmony man Beeb Birtles and an ill-advised jump to hard-rock music which didn't suit the band's musical style. This 2 cd collection has 34 tracks with some wonderful harmonies like "It's a Long Way There,Reminiscing,Sweet Old Fashioned Man and Soul Searching".The live "Days On The Road" also features a good bass solo. The band reformed in 1988 with the "Monsoon" album(but without Birtles, the album did poorly in the USA)and continued to tour into the 1990s.Reminiscence with Little River Band, decribed by Eagle Glen Frey as "the best vocal band in the world" after he jammed with them. One of those tracks is also on the 2cd album."
FANTASTIC!

"I picked this CD set up this summer and absolutely amazing! Both CDs have a lot of gems and I especially enjoy their cover of "When Will I Feel Love" the full version of "It's A Long Way There" and of course the Farnham-era tracks. It's a shame that more of their back catalog isn't more readily available."
Some great harmonies from Little River band

"This double album has some great tracks and it is nice to hear the long versions of "Long Way There" and the live "Days on The Road",but I am puzzled to hear Glen Frey on the cd when there are so many good LRB tracks not on the album, such as "Another Runway","Raelene Raelene","Light of Day" or "Stormy Surrender".This should be LRB's greatest hits and no-one elses."
