CD ReviewsThere are two versions of LRB's "After Hours". N. Stock | Australia | 06/16/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "After the success of their first album called "Little River Band" which sold 300,000 copies in the USA(reaching #80 on the Billboard charts),LRB recorded their second album called "After Hours".There are two versions of this album, which is regarded by the band as their best release. The superb original version was released everywhere around the world except for the USA where they were told by their American record label Capitol Records that the album "wasn't commercial enough" and to re-record some of the songs. They did this and put the re-recorded tracks on to their second US album "Diamantina Cocktail" which was a great success in the USA going gold, but the band couldn't escape the fact that the "more commercial" versions released for that album were vastly inferior to the originals("Take Me Home" and "Days On The Road" were especially badly butchered). The eventually released American version of "After Hours" had original tracks plus other tracks from other sessions. So,for fans, the original international "After Hours" album has the following tracks with never released in the USA original versions marked 'NR' 1-"Days On The Road(5.20 NR),2-Everyday Of My Life(3.45),3-Broke Again(3.25 NR),4-Seine City(3.43),5-Another Runway(6.28 NR),6-Bourbon Street(4.22),7-Sweet Old Fashioned Man(4.34),8-Take Me Home(5.09 NR),9-Country Girls(7.11)".The eventual cobbled-together American album version of "After Hours" has the following tracks-1-Seine City,2-Bourbon Street,3-Sweet Old Fashioned Man,4-Country Girls,5-The Drifter,6-LA In The Sunshine,7-Witchery,8-Raelene Raelene,9-Changed and Different,10-The Butterfly(live),11-Days On The Road(live),12-Long Jumping Jeweler. The American cd version does have some eccellent new tracks as well,in particular the superb "Raelene Raelene",a Beeb Birtles number with the surreal style that was a feature of some of the band's early albums, and also a great live version of "Days On The Road" which is close to the original album's version. The original version is a lost classic album.Hopefully, one day it will be re-released and re-discovered." The Second Little River Band Album M A. C. CALF | Willoughby, New South Wales Australia | 06/25/2001 (4 out of 5 stars) "The original After Hours album was arguably along with the debut album the finest produced by LRB. The album version released in the US (only??) was a hybrid of the third album Diamantina Cocktail and the Australian release version of After Hours. The hybrid and Diamantina Cocktail marks the beginning/ transformation /changeover of LRB to a middle of the road pop band and through the singing talents of the band some "average" songs were made distinctive, and with Reminiscing, one of the most "played" songs of all time, quite outstanding."
