"A few years ago I was drawn back to Lisa Stansfield with her outstanding album "Lisa Stansfield" featuring the Barry White cover "Never Gonna Give You Up". I've since become a Lisa Stansfield devotee. Her albums are simply consistently great. I simultaneously just purchased her much lauded debut album "Affection" and this, her newest affair, "The Moment". Her debut album is a joy, and holds up quite well featuring her signature "All Around The World" and the brilliant "This Is The Right Time" that she recorded with Coldcut which really launched her career. However, her newest endevour which didn't fair well in Europe is quite a change in pace, and an overall disappointment. Working with the iconic Trevor Horn, many of the songs were not written by her, and the entire album sounds rather tired and quite bland, if not well executed. Nothing really jumps out and grabs you, and some of the production is quite mystifying. The first single "Treat Me Like A Woman" is not very uninspiring and sounds like a Kylie reject. Several tracks are very much of the "elevator music" ilk. Just bland. There are some shining moments of course - "The Moment" is quite good, "Easier" is easy on the ears, and "If I Hadn't Got You" sounds close to a "Lisa" gem. But these moments are few and far between, and the whole affair is simply muddled, dated, and too mature for it's own good. Lisa Stansfield is one of the best vocalist out there, and a fantastic songwriter - I suppose the lesson learned is if you take a new artistic path, kudos to you, but make sure that what you're doing is good! Check out the absolutely BRILLIANT from start to finish "Face Up" which is as close to perfection as you can get."
Different, but still great

"The Moment is different from Lisa's other CD's, but not at all in a bad way. This is a wonderful CD, which grows on you after the first listen through. In my opinion all of the songs on here a worth listening to more than once. I love this Cd not only because I'm a huge Lisa fan, but because "The Moment" is really, really a great CD that I never get tired of hearing. I cannot wait for Ms. Stansfield's next Cd, which I've heard is in the works, but this time with her husband Ian."
A Must Have Album for the real fan of Lisa !

"Sound, Music good as previous LP. But not the best as 1st or 2nd albums. If you're the real fan, don't worry go get it."
This is a great moment..........

"WOW. after all these years lisa Stansfield come back with one great cd. thanks to trevor horn, the vocals are some of the best lisa has done. i am a big stansfield fan, and i really like the newer pop sound, got tired of the R&B thing she was doing before, it all started to sound the same.....with trevor, he helps breath new life into lisa and her work...some of the best songs, easier, when love breaks down, lay your hands on me, the moment, only wish there were more uptempo songs, but all and all.....what a wonderful cd. some people said it took them sometime to get use to the new sound.....i say, bring on more. if your a fan, and love lisa's voice,...then youll love this cd, i cant wait till the next one. thanks lisa. keep up the good work."
