Firecracker picks up right where Loeb's 1995 debut Tails left off, mixing relentlessly upbeat pop numbers with moody ballads tied together with her innate sense for a memorable melody. Firecracker starts particularly strong: A thumping bass line propels the rhythmic "I Do," lush string arrangements swoon behind "Falling in Love," "Truthfully" posesses the same kind of simple pop grace that made her 1994 song "Stay" a huge hit, and "Let's Forget About It" is probably the most instantly catchy song of the bunch. The rest of the record doesn't quite keep up that pace, but overall Firecracker shows Loeb clearly avoiding the "sophomore slump" curse. --Peter Blackstock (Amazon.com)

"I don't know of a more beautiful song than Lisa Loeb's 'How'. It is perfect, brilliant and captivating. I love every inch of it. "Firecracker" is Lisa's second album and it does a great job. Some of the songs I don't see fit for this album but most of the songs do the CD justice. I love Lisa's vocals and acoustic sound. The opener 'I Do' is also an amazing song, especially for an opener."

Lisa Loeb's Voice Is As Beautiful As That of a Greek Siren

"Cliched as it may be, "amazing" is the only word that may accurately describe Lisa Loeb's second album. Whereas many artists suffer the "sophomore jinx," never to be heard from again, Lisa Loeb returns with style and grace. Loeb's musical style has evolved immeasurably - the CD has more of an acoustic sound to it, allowing the meaningful lyrics to stand out and shine, while the mature instrumentals add further depth. Personally, this is my favorite album of Lisa's for the aforementioned reasons, and, though teenyboppers might be a bit disappointed, perhaps this album will help them appreciate artful music. And if not, I'm sure they'll grow into it. This CD gets my highest possible rating.....and then some."

"i promise you if you buy this and tails-you will like everysingle song!! this album is not as intimate as tails-and not exactly taking the folk/rock style she had then-, is still i would have to say the 2nd greatest album i've known. (the first is tails) guise-lisa loen truly knows how to catch your ear and her lyrics make you really think. you never wanna stop listening to it. "Frecracker," "Truthfully," "Let's forget about it," "FURIOUS ROSE!" and especially "I do." rock!!!!!!!! the only song on this album (in fact the only song out of all of her songs that was a bit of a let down was 'jake') but buy this album, its the best....and remember to get tails too. p.s. does anyone know if shes writing a new album?"
