CD ReviewsThis is great reissue this! Stargazer | New York | 12/07/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is the band Doug Aldrich was in before playing guitar for Hurricane, Bad Moon Rising, Dio, Whitesnake and on his solo albums. Kal Swan has a great voice and sang for Bad Moon Rising before going solo. This is great 80's metal it's catchy but it has a few epics aswell. Doug Aldrich and Kal Swan were on the best duos in hair metal. 1.Come On- 9/10 A cool intro to this that starts with thunder and rain and a cool keyboard part. This fast paced song has a great riff by Doug Aldrich and great vocals by Kal swan. The rythym sounds great and the song is very melodic. The bridge is excellent and ha s agreat keyboard part. Doug's riff during the bridge is great too. Doug's solo is very fast and melodic similar to Vito Bratta and George Lynch. A great melodic opener. 2.Lock Up your Daughters- 8/10 This song has a very live feel to it as Kal Swan yells the title of the song. This song starts witha great vocal harmony and another excellent guitar riff. Doug Aldrich's melodic solo is great and he reminds me of Vito Bratta and George Lynch once again. 3.Can't Stop The Rain- 10/10 This is a great melodic song. This starts off with a soft intro before going into a great melodic rocker. Kal swan's vocal performance is excellent an the guitar riffs are great. Doug Aldrich's solo is excellent and has some lightning fast shredding and some great dives and bends. One of the better songs on the album. 4.Love Is A Lie- 10/10 Another great melodic song. This starts off with a soft intro before going into another great melodic rocker. The chorus is great too and this song really shows off Kal Swan's vocal talents. Doug shows off his fast fingers and great vibrato in the solo too. 5.Victims Of Circumstance- 10/10 Another great melodic song. the Vito Bratta type riff mixed with the keyboards and the strong vocals make this song another classic. Doug Aldrich shreds away during the solo again and adds in some great bends and pinch harmonics again. This is maybe the best song on the album! 6.Stranger In The City- 10/10 Another fast paced melodic song. The riffs and vocals are excellent and Doug's shredding solo fits this song perfect. The chorus is very strong and so are the lyrics. 7.Hungry For Love- 8/10 A good melodic rocker with some great riffs and vocals. The lyrics are cheesy but the chorus is good. The soft bridge is great and so is Doug's shredding solo. A good song but not that memorable. 8.Hold On- 10/10 Another good melodic song with strong vocals and great riffs. The opening riff is probably the best riff on the album. The chorus sounds great too. Doug's solo starts with a huge screaming pinch harmonic before a fretboard assault that leads into a great soulful section. One of the better songs on the album. 9.Lonely Girl- 6/10 A short acoustic song. It's good but the vocals are too quiet and there's no guitar solo. It's less than 2 minutes but still skip this one. 10.Forgotten Sons- 10/10 The best song on the album! One of Doug's best riffs and Kal Swan's monster scream open this fast paced masterpeice. Kal Swan's vocals are very powerful and agressive on this song. The lyrics are great too on this song. Kal Swan's scream opens up one of Doug Aldrich's best solos ever which starts with Doug playing the melody before going into an awesome assault of pinch harmonics and shredding. The ending acoustic part makes this epic masterpeice even better. Amazing song. This is an amazing album and any fan of 80's metal should get this! Kal Swan's vocals sound like a mix of Graham Bonnet, Geoff Tate and Don Dokken with something new thrown in. Doug Aldrich's playing is at it's best here too. An excellent album from a very talented band. Kal Swan- Vocals Doug Aldrich- Guitar Jerry Best- Bass Mark Edwards- Drums" All Time Classic!!! Stuart M. Tysinger | Johnson City, TN | 05/31/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Coming off the success of Dangerous Attraction, Lion gets a new label in Grad Slamm and produces another classic cd. The melodic rock/metal world needs more bands like Lion. If you can find this cd get it because it is a classic.
