"This seems to be a legitimate release of sessions , seemingly bootlegged around for some time ..(see my notes on a disc called 'Shake It Baby')I have a 9 song cassette, of an unknown source , which is a fixture in my car .. this seems to be the motherlode of what's on my cassette! .. I finally found it on CD ! this is a great rockin set by Lightnin , my guess ; a mid 60's recording. There are some solo and band tracks - all seem to be on electric guitar , the Bass is Jimmy Bond , and the Drummer is Earl Palmer . there is a Trombone player on some tracks ..yes folks ! .. but do not be afraid .. it enhances the sound and does not get in the way of Lightnin at all .. Good rockin' stuff from Lightnin' Hopkins here , buy with confidence . Also get 'Hear Me Talkin' a great30 track collection of his REALLY rockin' stuff on Herald from 1954! There is also a 'Herald' disc that does not contain as many tracks .. the equally as good 'Lightnin And The Blues' on Buddah, which is a bit cheaper and contains a healthy 16 tracks .. A good Arhoolie release is Texas Blues, a nice mix of solo ,and band tracks , 'Blowin' The Fuses' is a nice collection of acoustic and electric rockin tracks . and 'Fishing Clothes' ..containing most of his Jewel sides,on the great UK label Westside, is highly recommended .These all capture Lightnin' in top rockin form .Did I ever tell you I met him ? Yep, in UK in 1964 ..!!One cool cat .just him and a drummer .. they tore it up!! .."
