"In 1968, rock drummer Skip Prokop, pianist Paul Hoffert and guitarist Ralph Cole formed the nucleus of the Canadian band Lighthouse. They released a few albums with various vocalists, but struck gold in 1971 with "One Fine Morning," featuring lead singer Bob McBride. They released their last album in 1974 and disbanded. Lighthouse reunited around 1982 and toured sporadically over the years. Unfortunately, in 1998, Bob McBride died.
In 1999, Misters Prokop, Hoffert and Cole (along with other musicians) released the Lighthouse album "Song Of The Ages." Unfortunately, that is where the connection with the old group ends. Their latest lead singer, Dan Clancy, is an undistinguished vocalist. Even though Skip Prokop wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs, they are mediocre at best. The signature sound of the old group - lots of brass - is barely in evidence. Fans of Lighthouse would be better served getting "Sunny Days Again: The Best Of Lighthouse.""
