Just a note to say that this recording is of special note to some of us who appreciate the name of behind-the-scenes producert/composer/pianist Kavin Hoo. His work stands out among the instrumental entries in the Lifescape series, and he has a prolific career far beyond the this label.

The music is exactly what the photograph on the cover seems to offer: pure solo piano. There is a contempative quality in Hoo's solo piano compositions for Lifescapes and the mood here is quiet, gentle, non-showy, non-trendy -- spacious. Hoo is producer here, according to the liner notes, but I suspect he is also the composer of these piano selections.

I like Kavin Hoo's music, and it's been nice to think I might be able to spot his influence in various recordings for this label, and elsewhere. Glad I found this one. Very much recommended.
