CD ReviewsQuality Soul with Teddy Pendergrass style vocals. 08/23/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) "Lew Kirton is very underated and it seems almost criminal that he hasn't had a record out in ten years. Undoubtedly influenced by Teddy Pendergrass he's been recording since the early 70's firstly as a member of the philly-influenced Invitations on Silver Blue where 'They say the girl's crazy' 'Look on the good side' & 'Your precious love' are still fondly remembered and highly collected sides. It was in 1978 that he really gained chart action with the anthemic 'Heaven in the afternoon' which still regularly appears on the best 100 dance record compilation vis-a-vis Blues & Soul recent Top100 Northern Records. This CD has some memorable highlights especially the Clarence Reid produced 'Something Special' 'NYC' & 'Time to get with it' & from eleven tracks theres only two disasters although the Caribbean flavoured'Island Girl'is possibly just not my thing . Overall its a smashing album.Rather like Jackie Opel from a previous generation of Barbadian singers Lew Kirton has conquered the soul idiom with style & panache.greg Burgess"
