A Very Fine Disc.

"Pres fans will want to have this one. It features Pres in quintessential form during arguably his best time: 1947-51. The first 6 tracks are on "The Complete Aladdin Recordings"--also highly recommended. The remainders are on Savoy, Mercury, and Norgran: as Pres afficianados know, these are some of Lester's best labels. The sound is excellent as usual on the excellent Chronological Classics label: much better than on many other reissue labels. Highly recommended CD, and also a good introduction for someone who's not familiar with the Pres: a very good example of his art."
