(4 out of 5 stars)
"First off, I will admit my bias in that my hometown is Edmonton, Canada, which is where Lester Quitzau hails from. However, I don't personally know the guy. That being said, I began listening to Lester Quitzau a few years back when I bought his excellent self-produced cd "Keep on Walkin" which had a decidedly more acoustic bent. Lester and the Very Electric Trio really show that they can kick butt on this latest cd, playing great electric slide, and having a very tight sound. The opening track, the blues standard "Rollin' and Tumblin," sounds fresh, even though it is certainly not a recent tune. My personal fave is "Home on the Range," a slightly ironic tune about our neighbors to the south. Great stuff.
The only reason I didn't give this album five stars is that these guys blew me away with the electric numbers, and while the acoustic numbers are very good, in my humble opinion they should have gone lighter on them, and packed the CD with more electric blues.BUT, still, you should buy this CD. No, let me rephrase that. You GOTTA buy this CD."
