"Just as Chopin wrote etudes that were challenging, so has Mr. Adams. They are "studies" to be sure, with challenges in each. But what music they make! Combine a jazz feeling with melodic lines that sing, played by a pianist who FEELS what she plays. I love this one! I've played it several times and hear something new each time. Enjoy!"

"There are Etudes and then there are ETUDES THAT SING TO YOU.
H. Leslie Adams, a master of melody, has created challenging music for the accomplished and the aspiring concert pianist that is a joy to listen to. Maria Corley's masterful performance does justice to the music. It is such a relief to know that there is a living composer who actually writes music that you can actually listen to over and over again. H. Leslie Adams is such a composer, and Maria Corley provides us a faithful and sensitive interpretation of his work. I highly recommend this recording to all as an example of new music that is destined to be classical. Add it to your collection and share it with others."
Fantastic Recording

"These piano etudes of H. Leslie Adams are unbelievably beautiful. Beginning with the lyrical G Minor, Adams spins an incredible theme, and continues to weave a spell unlike any other work. In etude after etude various moods, flavors, and tonalities are revealed--and in a freshly creative manner. Seldom are the works geared to impress with complexities; on the contrary, simplicity is the refreshing keynote. Yet the piano resources are brilliantly utilized.Pianist Maria Corley works wonders in heartfelt renditions of these pieces. She senses their essence and executes them with all her soul. A particularly delightful etude is the C Major--seemingly simple, yet the more one probes its core the deeper one can go. These etudes transcend the genre of studies to offer a profoundly philosophical statement--an awareness rarely encountered in a medium all to often employed as mere diversion. The more one listens to these breathtaking pieces the more one senses a historical breaktrough of the genre. Thanks to Maria Corley, Adams' superb etudes are given an endearing debut."
Hauntingly Beautiful

"Maria Corley plays Adams' Etudes with an interpretation that gets to the core of these studies. This is a recording that stays with you; I must have played it some three dozen times so far, and each time I discovered new elements. The work is so concentrated with energy and myriad of details that it's almost too much to take in at once. Corley's technique is really great; she has both power and tenderness in her touch--which is always at a high artistic level. I give this recording 5 stars +. "Bravo!""
