"After many years of playing instrumental jazz with the likes of Bill Frisell Leni turned to the singer/songwriter-idiom, since then producing a string of gorgous albums full of intricate and inteligent songs with human and deepfelt lyrics.
On this wonderful CD every song is a little gem. And Leni certainly belongs to the kind of composers who do not repeat the same formulas again and again, instead she draws on a well of different ideas, mixing soul, jazz, rythm'n'blues and not least world music. As always accompanied by a group of excellent musicicians, this time with the great James Genus making some great contributuions on doublebeass, both as accompanist and soloist. And bansuriplayer Steve Gorn producing a meditative atmosphere, not least on the hauntingly beautiful closing number "Carolina".
Her guitarplaying is sublime as always, although I wouldn't have mind her playing a few more solos.
Really a shame so relatively few know and admire Leni, cause she produces some of the finest music around! Music that should appeal to fans af artists like Joni Mitchell and Aimee Mann, and to everyone who likes independent and creative (female) artists."
