"If you have never seen a Dot's concert, you should A)Put your entire life on hold and sink every resource you have into getting yourself to their next concert, or B)[if your lifestyle doesn't permit that] buy this CD to wet your appetite and wait for them to come to a town near you. The dots have a really different live sound, noteably a driving drum beat that boosts the energy level. It is very listenable, and a welcome addition to the more introspective Dots' studio recordings. The monolauge intro to "saucers over Chicago" is an amusing alien's-eye view of our human race, again proving Edward Ka Spel's knack for insight. Edward blew me away at Gibson's in Tempe Az on their Hallway of the God's tour when they played the Andromeda Suite. The studio version is good, but is 25 minuites of melancholy ambience [subtle and irreplaceable in its own right]. The overwhelming thrill of the live performance of Andromeda concludes this disc, as anything else would be anticlimatic."

"'Live At...' was recorded at The Metro in Chicago on November 11,1998,just days after I saw them play in Lawrence,KS.I remember their publicist telling me that fans were more than welcome to audio/video tape any Dots gig they attend,we just need to agree not to sell copies for profit.Trading was permitted.Talk about trusting your fans.Anyway,'Live At The Metro' is a superb recording of a little over half of the show that was THAT tour's setlist.Very nice.Vocalist Edward Ka-Spel and crew was in top form this night,as always. From the older tracks, like "Gang Green","Grain Kings" and "Saucers Over Chicago"(actually, just "Saucers"-possibly the CD's best cut)to the more recent cuts like "Spike","Fates Faithful Punchline" and "Pain Bubbles" pull together to make this title a must-have for ALL Legendary Pink Dots fans. From the sound quality, this CD just might've been professionally recorded by a fan and then just handed over to the band, for release purposes.Just a great audio document of a long-running neo-psychedelic cult band.Recommended."
