CD Reviews

No joke this is REAL TALK
K. Perry | Double O | 12/21/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Yo this album goes hard. Big ups to GOD, the 1-1-6 Clique, Cross Movement and everyone involved with this album. Lecrae's blessed and it shows through the word that he spits. GOD is smilin down on this one. Lecrae stays talkin bout CHRIST and not bout diamonds and 'lacs on 22's. Just read this:

"1-1-6 a band of misfits/ who get sick at da state of da world/ so we hit strips and spit CHRIST JESUS/ who scooped us out of the dirt and cleaned us/we were slaves to sinful ways but CHRIST freed us/believe us/ because of the Bible that supercedes us/ not do to intellectual thesis..."

"I don't use drugs or sell/ keep accountability cuz my flesh love to fail/I dont go where I used to go/I got my number changed twice for da gals that I used to know/ and I dont trip when I pass the cops/ cuz I'm not makin assists/ u know tryna pass da rock/ I dont live life scared to death/ cuz when I take my last breath/ the next step is there in text..."

"You can find me in da church/ focused and alert/ no suit and tie

jeans and a t-shirt/ I'm into praisin GOD cuz he made us out of dirt/and plus he gave us life for this world's evil works..."

I can keep goin and goin. He stays praising GOD and givin the LORD all the glory. This album is ridiculous! O...and track 7...man hit home. He spittin bout how he came about to find GOD.

"They say come as I am/ but I smell like smoke/ My whole life's full of sin cuz that's all I know/the bible tell me that you died for my sins/ if I beleive in CHRIST he'll save me from the end/ but I'm scared to ask you to save me/ my hearts so evil/ I got thoughts full of hatred/ hurtin people/ I thought that first I had to clean up my life/ now I'm hearin I just need to cling to the light/ I'm ready to do it but LORD I pray you understand/ my life is a mess/ will you take me as I am."

This whole track is his testimony and it's very powerful. GOD BLESS!!!!

This is a MUST buy.

"Teach me I want to learn/ how you can save a wretch like me before death says its my turn...""
Looking for a(nother) awesome gangsta rap artist?
K. Perry | 01/14/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is from who used to be a rap listener, but now, wants bass and a rapper who raps with that bold and aggressive attitude type approach. I don't usually like rap, because too much of the artists today talk about the same thing, over and over again, drugs, alcohol, violence, repeat. Hey! And what the heck? I've been trying to find a gangsta rap artist with that southern style beat and sound. Lecrae is an artist that has music so unique, and totally sweet rap songs. And yes, with bass, too (Represent, check that one out first, then, Take Me As I Am, Souled Out, and We Don't). Not just more rap songs, but these songs have the addictive hook to them that makes you want to get up and listen to it over and over again. Heck, I find myself even wanting to get up, bob my head, and rap along with these songs. They are so smooth flowing, with smooth great bass, too. One example is Represent. It's like clean Lil Jon. I couldn't believe this. Yea! This is the rap artist I'm talking about that can actually rap without the repeated drugs, alcohol, and violence lyrics. 50 Cent (Take Me As I Am), Ludacris, T.I., Bun B. (untitled track, which is a slower gangsta sounding version of Represent), Twista (Aliens, and Repesent), Will Smith (I kid you not, listen to Crossover) Lil Jon (Represent), and all them gangsta rappers, this artist sounds similar to all those and more. So, Lecrae: Real Talk. He doesn't just constantly overdo it and shove one of or the same message in your face. Go listen to some sample songs, and if you are as hooked as I am, hopefully ya'll reading this will go out, and buy Lecrae's album, Real Talk, and support him. Hopefully this review helps anyone looking for a good rap artist they can look to and stick up to. So check him out."
Beat Da Rap!
Hussein In The Membrane | Warner Robins, GA | 11/21/2009

"Lecrae is easily one of the most talented rappers I've ever heard, and this CD is easily one of the best I own! The beat & the flow are strong, and the message is stronger! You wanna see a 46 year old rocker get krunk for El Shaddai and throw his hands up for Jesus? Come on over when I'm spinnin' this album! Peace :-)"
