Passage 14:03 ------------------ Second, my review: This is one of those CDs that is a true classic in its genre. The music is often brooding in a Pink Floyd sort of way. But it is much more delicate. It is excellent as music to meditate to, but also delivers a punch and says something. I consider it a classic as it keeps speaking to me and has that quality where it is something you can keep going back to over and over. The two main themes in the titles seem to be change and process. It is as if the music is discovering itself as it unfolds while remaining structured and coherent. It captures a sense of change and progress to the point of seeming almost like a rite. The music has a strong spiritual quality to it while not seeming to be of a specific genre. I would not call it New Age as it doesn't have that syrupy quality that I often associate with New Age music. It is like listening to the brain of a scientist who has deep feelings while never becoming sentimental. I would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys synthesizer, computer, or otherwise electronic music. It never sounds mechanical and even comes so close to sounding like traditional musical instrumentation that there is actually a disclaimer in the liner notes assuring the listener that everything you hear was programmed into a computer. I would also recommend it to anyone into spacey, ambient music. This is one of those lesser-known CDs that is a real treasure." |
