Living up to the name...
R. Moricz | 11/23/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"There is nothing else like Las Pesadillas. Somehow they blend seemingly incongruous styles (jazz, metal, surf, alternative rock, country, blues, klezmer, baroque, classical, gypsy, punk, Giorgio Moroder) into a mighty lethal concoction that isn't a sum of parts, but an entirely new part altogether. Las Pesadillas show that everything hasn't been done before and that there is new musical ground to discover.

Moody, funny, haunting, scary, sweet, heavy, beautiful, sad, and deep are a few words that describe this music. Layers of beautiful stuff swimming around and vibrating with the stuff that makes us.

Everyone is hungry for something different and new. This is it."

"An addictive CD to be sure. No two songs sound the same. I find myself haunted by the old internal replay for days after listening to this collection of tunes. Often my boyfriend and I find our brains playing the same songs at the exact same time. Creativity squared, these dudes experiment with a variety of styles, all of which sound uniquely theirs. They are all adept musicians, verging at times on virtuosity. Listen and you will be hooked.

My boyfriend says this music is healthy like zucchini, but deep-fried and spicy...and dripping with cheese."
Get In on the Ground Floor

"Stated simply, this album rocks. It also jazzes, progs, sambas, waltzes, klezmers, folks, polkas, country and westerns, and bossanovas. These guys move between musical styles seamlessly.

Because it is impossible to describe the sounds on this recording, I will just say that if you like Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Pixies, Frank Black, Primus, Queen, Beck, The Beatles, Mr. Bungle, Ween, Talking Heads, Rush, or David Bowie, you will realize after hearing Quantum Immortality that they are all crap by comparison. Well, maybe that's a little harsh.

Let's just say that if you actually like to listen to music, you will like this album.

GET IT NOW THAT'S AN ORDER!"
