"The Good
I'm sure that a lot of people were forced to read Macbeth in school; I was not one of them. So let's say I am not that familiar with the story. I do know however that Lady Macbeth was not the most sympathetic character in the story, but on Lana Lane's latest album, she tries to make you think otherwise. "The Dream That Never Ends" starts off with some Celtic flute that leads into a beautiful piano and vocal section. The musical tide shifts once again as the drums and bass lead us into a main character's theme. Erik Norlander lays down some sweet licks and a frantic chugga-chugga riff as Lana's angelic vocals describe her heroine's plight.
"Someone to Believe" could easily stand on its own outside of the whole Macbeth storyline. Programmed effects and subtle guitar notes with a hint of acoustic strumming set the pace here. A steady muted riff and piercing licks guide you the rest of the way. I'm trying to avoid saying over and over again how compelling Lana's voice is, but it's just impossible; especially during the memorable chorus. "Summon the Devil" is arranged as a witches spell with its haunting vocals, eerie riffs, and chanting chorus.
The acoustic tone of "No Tomorrow" is sure to beckon you, while the calm and serine vocals of Lana will seduce you. "The Vision" is a strong instrumental that shows off the melody and feelings that the rest of the group are capable of. "Keeper of the Flame" charges at you with fast-paced rhythms, numbing guitar licks, and a catchy choral arraignment.

The Verdict
You don't have to be familiar with the story of Macbeth to enjoy Lana Lane's latest release. Lady Macbeth is arranged in such a way that not only are you getting a great rock record, but your also getting a little literature lesson. From beginning to end the story never gets dull and the music never gets boring. A concept album is always a tough sell, but Lana and company pull it off. Simply stunning.
