Before Les Miserables, there was La Revolution

"Long before Boubil and Schonberg made their name with Les Miserables they created this rock opera that abounds with grace, wit, pathos and action. There are the obligatory young lovers with lovely duets but also corrupt politicians, rampant revolutionaries, regretful royals and one of the few musical assassinations as Charlotte Corday knifes Marat in this bathtub with a pleasant melody tinkling in the background. A working knowledge of French is helpful but not necessary. The only downside is that the original illustrated lyrics are not included with the CD in what was a forerunner to today's graphic novels."
