Synopsis
Album Description L A Guns emerged on the scene as an L A supergroup in the late 80's and struck gold with a series of albums that appealed to metal fans but were steeped in the time honored tradition of rock and roll. "Rips The Covers Off" is a reference to the songs on the album which are like a sound track to the lives of the members of L A GUNS. Covering songs by Led Zeppelin, Rose Tatoo, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, And Aerosmith to name a few, the boys knock these songs out with as much fire and energy as if they had written them. Similar CDs

CD ReviewsYou WON'T be disappointed! Chaotic Kittie | Woodridge, IL | 09/14/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "This CD is outstanding!!! There really ISN'T a song on it that I DON'T like. Phil Lewis' vocals take these vintage 70's songs and brings them ROARING back to the present! My top picks: Search and Destroy (Iggy Pop and the Stooges), Marseilles (Angel City), Wheels of Steel (Saxon), and Moonage Daydream (Bowie)." Blast from the past Jerome J. Sifuentes | san antonio, TX | 07/20/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "lets get straight to the point, the gunners sound as good as ever. i was a little skeptical when finding out tracii guns would not be on the album, but 'the new guy' stacy blades doesn't drop the ball an inch. phil sounds great as does the rest of the band. the best aspect of the disc is that each song has that incredible LAG sound, which really makes it that much more enjoyable to listen to. highly impressive work, a must have for any fan of LAG, hardcore or casual." BRILLIANT COVERS ON ! Hernan | Peru | 09/17/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "One of the best cover Cds you MUST have....believe me. LA GUNS made an excellent job pickin'the songs, and Phil did his best in vocals. Songs like WHEELS OF STEEL, RNR OUTLAW and TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN are the most representative jewels from this album. The guitar job is decent enough to say TRACII WHO??.............ONLY ONE PROBLEM: The sound isnt the best when you compare it with HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, so the production is slightly better than the WAKING THE DEAD CD. Could you imagine the production of DEF LEPPARD'S YEAH! IN THIS ALBUM?? WOW!!! But the songwriting of the songs and their performance deserve the oportunity to get it.
A decent voice, the raw guitar job and the Riley drumms recreate a bunch of great classics for the hard rock lovers: LA GUNS die hards and casual listeners. 4 stars for the vampires Rock on !" |
