Mesmerizing Album
A. Martin | VA United States | 08/20/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"LP has burst onto the scene with a powerful and yet hypnotizing collection of songs. With obvious influences from Cracker front man David Lowery, who produced the album, and Cracker guitarist Johnny Hickman, LP has blown her new found audience away. While any true Rock-and-Roll fan will like this release, long time Cracker fans should make an easy transition to this compelling work. With that stated, LP has cut a new lane in the road for herself with a style of her own, and a mesmerizing voice to back it up. Its just one of those albums you can't put away. While enjoying this album you can't wait for her next release."
LP is PROFOUND & PROFAIN

"What a poet, what a voice. "Heart Shaped Scar" has been in my CD player and in my head since the first time I heard it. LP's voice is amazing! "Perfect is the perfect rock song, and "Coming Home" is a true rock ballad in the tradition of Van Morrison. I love this record."
A BETTER BELTER (AND BELT BUCKLE) THAN MELISSA
Gabriel | New York, New York United States | 07/25/2001

"This is an amazing debut album from one of the best voices in rock and roll today! After she appeared on Cracker's "Gentleman's Blues" a few years back singing "Cinderella" (the hidden track at the end of the CD- yep, that was her) I couldn't wait to hear what LP had to offer on her own. Well her solo album is finally out and well worth waiting for. She shows us right from the start with "Perfect" that she has a vocal range no female rocker can come close to. Even when she slows down on the haunting "Shut You Out" she sends shivers down my spine when she hits those high notes. There are also some beautiful ballads that don't stray from her unique style by being too folky, like "Insane", (my personal favorite on this album). This album is addicting. I can't stop listening and I can't recommend it enough!"
