CD ReviewsA promising debut from an up-and-coming artist... Chris C. | Houston, TX | 02/23/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a collection of 10 great songs by a guy who just seems to be destined for stardom. Hutton wrote all the songs on this disc, and he displays a great range in theme and style. The album provides something for everyone. Hutton moves effortlessly between country-rock tunes like "Can't Stop Falling," and "Cold Hard Cash," a couple of down-home gospel songs("Run Like Hell" and "Hometown Revival"), and emotional anthems like "Small Price to Pay" and "Until We Meet Again." As a songwriter, Hutton has the ability that so many of the great ones have: to find universal truths in everyday situations and wrap them up in a memorable 3-minute package. But perhaps the most notable thing about the songs on Small Price to Pay is their striking honesty. These songs never sound cliched or contrived, like so much of the stuff that comes out of the Nashville music machine. Hutton lays out his soul on this disc, from beginning to end, and that effort makes it a great experience for the listener." "Small Price" is worth any price! B. Bowles | Lake Jackson, TX | 03/27/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "Whoever the listener, whatever the background, anyone that truely listens to lyrics within a song will appreciate what "Small Price to Pay" has to offer. The words, the music, the vocals, the entire package is uncommonly pleasant and enjoyable to listen to; again and again. A portion of the tracks on this CD contain a refreshing amount of honesty and simplicity that showcase the love and passion that the artist has for his trade, while remaining songs exhibit straightforward talent that is obvious throughout the disc. The artist has a gift to maintain a high level of intensity without detaching himself from the subject matter of each track, regardless of whether the song is one with a slow, thoughtful emotional embrace or if it is a cut that overflows with energy and excitement. Either way, the listener will find themselves identifying with the lyrics and truely enjoying the music put forth on "Small Price to Pay"! The lyrics are good, the content is good, the music is good. These items combined, make this CD a great CD!"
