"Kurt Mahoney's unpretentious quality shines through on his 2005 release that features ten original songs. Kurt knows the importance of a prolific songwriter and accomplished guitarist also being an engaging storyteller, and he paints solid portraits of people, places, and life in general. His truth from a common-man's perspective is presented in arrangements with full country instrumental accompaniment by his solid band and musical guests. These Californians have considerable Texas outlaw sensibilities, and "Desperado Town" could easily be musically mapped in the Lone Star State. Some delicious vocal harmonies added to the mix would've put "Phantom Train" into the station right on time. Kurt Mahoney is a rollicking country free-spirit whose songs have warmth and wit.
