"Another great recording by Kudsi Erguner, one of the masters of the Turkish ney. His playing is flowing and exact throughout the entire CD, and features great improvisation on some of the basic maqamat. For people not familiar with the maqamat, the middle eastern system of microtonal modes, this is a great introduction. The artist builds the improvisation in each track on a different maqam, and shows the unique mood and sound of each mode. The music is very relaxing and mystical, and the sounds always remind me of Istanbul!"
