"This is a first class cd, the sound cound not be better, the interpretation is very good and the compositions are the quintessence. The first piece is named "Suite en Concert pour flute et percussion" also titled "Second flute concert" by Andre Jolivet (1905-1974), a french composer friend of Edgar Varese. In four movements was dedicated to Jean-Pierre Rampal who gave the first performance. Of course there is no tonalism or usual rhythms. The second composition "First concerto for flute and percussion" by Lou Harrison (1917- ) is really beautyful. In third place "Amores" by john Cage. in four movements, no flute, two of them with the prepared piano. if you have never heard about Cage, please don't buy this cd. The last piece "Drums" of Sven Sandstrom is only for percussion. The flutist is Manuela Wiesler who studied with Galway and Nicolet, her sound is strong, her technique is really good, the five percussionist are The Kroumata Ensemble of Stockholm. All is XX century music, no tonality, no romantic, no old fashion style. If you are looking for a good, different stuff, take the risk."
