Do Not Let Subtlety Be Lost

"Klaus Wiese, formerly of the German band Popol Vuh, has been utilizing Tibetan singing bowls and zithers (a la Laraaji) for over a decade. "Dunya" is the finest of his numerous recordings. It generously displays the inner warmth and exquisite detail that has made him popular in "spacemusic" circles.
This lovely CD can be appreciated as either foreground or background listening. Yes, the accompanying liner notes are embarrassingly "new agey" ; I'll excuse that as a clumsy translation from the German. This is a CD in the finest ambient tradition of pieces of Laraaji's "Essence/Universe" and Budd/Eno's "The Pearl". I'm not sure what the reviewer above found so objectionable; perhaps he was waiting for some bombastic, "in your face" sequencers. Surely all are entitled to their opinions, but do not allow this gentle gem of a recording escape your attention due to one sarcastic screed. This one is a keeper."
