Synopsis

Album Description
Originally released in 1984 as the soundtrack for the Austrian judicial scandal documentary film, Angst (a.k.a. Schizophrenia), Schulze?s music acted as a storyline for the unedited film, rather than incidental music added to a completed story, thus allowing the score to drive the film. As stand alone music, Angst is typical of Schulze?s moody, serene and atmospheric symphonic synth bent. The bonus track, Silent Survivor, was recently uncovered in the search for masters and has been previously unreleased. The Angst soundtrack is released as a special edition digipak with enhanced booklet and new liner notes. Klaus Schulze first attracted attention as a member of the German progressive rock band, Tangerine Dream. Following the release of their debut LP, Electronic Meditation, he departed for a solo career. Klaus' recorded work typically features extended pieces sometimes filling an entire album built around computer-generated synthesizers and other specially programmed electronic effects. Klaus Schulze remains a cult figure in the United States, where the bulk of his prolific output has until now been available only through the import bins. He is widely considered an avant-garde mainstay as well as a founding father of both the new-age space music and electronica genres.

"One of Klaus's late eighties works and a soundtrack to boot it offers some of Klaus's more attmospheric music from that era. Taking the best stuff from the eighties and mixing them into a soundtrack Klaus created a decent album comparable and better than much of tangerine Dreams soundtrack stuff from around the sametime. A forgotten gem."
