"Sir Army Suit is simply brilliant. It expands on the song writing of the band's first album but with stepped maturity in the writing. Endangered species has some the band's best pop oriented songs but suffers from slick over production thanks to Capital Records when it decided that the band needed more of an LA sound to hit the big time. However, even with Capital's meddling, the songs are top shelf."

"A friend of mine in college turned me on to Klaatu in the mid-80's and when I found out that they had been issued on CD I snatched up both of the two-album sets, even though the only albums I'd heard were 'Hope' (bundled with 3:47 EST and they are both delightful) and Sir Army Suit, bundled here with Endangered Species. Sir Army Suit is as nifty as I remember it from more than fifteen years ago, with varied styles, unusual subject matter, interesting arrangements and all around coolness. The reason I give this collection only three stars is that I found Endangered Species to be a whopping bore except for the last track. The album sounds suspiciously like an attempt to write hit songs instead of writing good songs that the writers cared about. The production is bland, aiming at the LA pop charts, all that assembly-line [stuff], instead of capitalizing on the uniqueness of the band's vision. Producers who do this to good artists have a special place in hell. The recording industry's blockbuster mentality... don't let me get started.Truth is, the disc is still worth buying just for Sir Army Suit, so I have no regrets."
