"Kitaro is not well known for soundtracks, but rather for "new age" work. This soundtrack is however one of the best of 1993. it has won a golden globe award (meaning it beat William's Schindler's List by). However it is a very rare CD. So if you see it, GET IT NOW!"
The Beauty of the Horror

"I was introduced to Kitaro thru this mastery of music composition. I spent many years in Vietnam after the ceasing of conflicts there. I am aware of the cultural significance that is portrayed in Kitaro's music and find that his music brings forth beauty from the depths of the horrors of war. The fact that this is also the soundtrack to the movie of the same name starring Tommy Lee Jones dose not take away from it's ability to stand on it own. The music is a representation of the culture and provides an insight into the lives of the Vietnamese people. The people of Vietnam have survived and this music is a tribute to them. I do not have the right words to say to you who read this review just how much this music means to me. But if you wish to explore the Vietnam Conflict and the effects it had on the people thru the eyes of Kitaro then this music will show you terror, fear, hopelessness and love, Yes love, the love of a Vietnamese girl to an American soldier and the complicated life that followed. If you like the music I suggest renting or buying the video for a deeper insight to the Kitaro's world of Heaven & Earth."
