"Before I actually listened to Kirk I was somewhat sceptical; I was suspicious about the multi-instrumental performance... I was afraid it might be a gimmick...
Basically, my apprehensions were unfounded: Rahsaan Roland Kirk is a true artist, he uses his numerous instruments with great taste and basically plays like a small band...
With hot organist Jack McDuff, this richness of sound goes to an even higher level and this album becomes a true gem. The first Kirk's album I've heard A Meeting of the Times proved his amazing feeling for the tradition of jazz (a nice feature for a modern jazz musician if you ask me...), proved again on this brilliant album - more funky an down-to-earth than "Meeting of Times", but also more modern...
No wonder he worked so beautifully with Charles Mingus (Live at Carnegie Hall)..."
