"I can say that this album of standards and originals from Kirk Lightsey dedicated to the Nat King Cole Trio is a very nice listening experience. It has a great swing feel, excellent musicians involved (Kevin Eubanks on the guitar) and an overall balance that can give the listener some hours of pleasure and groovin' entertainment. Swing is the word here, it is not an extreme album, made with a particular complex way of rearranging music. It is a simple Jazz blues infected standards album. Unfortunatly there aren't too many albums of this caliber nowadays. Every jazz player today tend to play the most harmonically complex things he can think of without considering the audience's pleasure. This is not the case. it is a very entertaining album if you love Jazz, very well recorded and with at least two monster musicians Kirk and Kevin Eubanks. I would suggest to Kirk to do not sing anymore (he does that on only two tunes here fortunatly "Close enough for love" and "Never let me go"). He's not Nat King Cole for sure. Kirk, let your piano do the talking it's a better singer than you ...."
