CD ReviewsNot the original trios jim freeberg | ashland, or United States | 04/18/2004 (2 out of 5 stars) "This recording is NOT by either the "Guard" Trio or the "Stewert" Trio. It was recorded after the Trio lost everyone but Bob Shane." A minimalist collection of Kingston Trio hit songs Lawrance M. Bernabo | The Zenith City, Duluth, Minnesota | 04/01/2003 (3 out of 5 stars) ""Tom Dooley & Other Hits" is a minor collection of some of the best of the Kingston Trio. The title is true, to a point; in addition to "Tom Dooley" you get the hits "Greenback Dollar," "M.T.A.," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," and "Reverend Mr. Black." Granted, those are the five best Kingston Trio songs of all time but they comprise just half the album, which only offers ten tracks and just a little over a half-hour of playing time. This Intersound collection is priced low because there is simply not all that much here. The bottom line is that you can find several better Kingston Trio collections that will go a lot farther beyond this minimal play list and that this is one of the seminal groups in the revival of American folk music and are worth the extra effort."
