CD Reviews

The "Essential" Hits plus a few bonuses
J. Collins | 04/14/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Though no one has yet released a truly comprehensive collection of Kim's work (as a performer AND songwriter), this import collection is fairly impressive. It does skimp a bit on her rock material ("Thrill Of The Grill," "Dancin' At The Light House" are two notable omissions) and completely ignores her pre- and post-EMI material, which is what keeps this collection from being truly definitive. But given that it gives a nice "rounded" look at her "hit years," it's likely that most of Kim's latter-day fans will be pleased. It should be noted that all of the tracks included here actually DO appear on other CDs by Kim, but those discs are either expensive (and out of print) import CDs from Japan and Austrailia, or domestic compilations that are still available. If you're looking for a fairly inexpensive way to complement your copies of "Mistaken Identity Collection" and the "Gypsy Honeymoon" best-of, this compilation is a great way to do it.-Mic"
