But he also knows how to rock like the likes of the Downchild Blues band, Canned Heat and the Fabulous Thunderbirds did back in the day. You don?t know what to expect with his new CD, Stray Dog. He begins with a couple great groovy electric blues numbers, She?s Gone and Good to See You, then slowly abandons the electric for an old fashioned acoustic guitar and slide. Then picks up the pace again midway through the CD, with the killer Live Wire. He splits the difference between Robert Johnson style smooth sell my soul to the Devil delta blues and rock n blues, on Oh Well. While he rassles with the old acoustic, you can almost see the old Hellhound on his tail. But throughout this long strange trip, he never loses the listener once, leaving listeners constantly either on the edge of their seats or dancing on top of them.
