"While a lot of Christian musicicains get redundantly lost in repetitious cliches (i.e. "You are My Rock") and fall short musically, Kevin Thompson's latest CD, WITHER. FADE. REMAIN is a blessed reprieve away from the mundane. He is an accomplished guitar player, singer, songwriter who creates a sonically blissful musicscape . He doesn't compromise his bold faith and this album succeeds on many levels. The electric guitar bits are creative and defy genre classification, searing through a dreamy back drop; while his acoustic ballads are provocative. The carefully engineered sound effects are sensationally crafted and weave in and out of these well conceived tracks. His vocals are impressive -- very contemporary, yet original. Supporting musicians are well accomplished, and all the pieces fit. The musical drop back is filled with seamless bursts of radiant ambiance with tinges of electronica. Kevin is a rare talent and if he were to let lose he could tear the rook off! In addition to being a worship leader of a Christian church band, he plays various rock and hip hop festivals. This album is truly infectious and one of the most original CD's I've heard in some time. A strong testimony of his faith, it stands up to any recent contemporary alternative records I've heard of late - rising above the slagheap of sound-alike records. It's strikingly creative and unique. These lofty compositions make for real spiritual ear candy, and the songs will stand the test of time. They won't WITHER or FADE. They shall REMAIN!
