Heaven's near indeed.

"Kevin Seconds, best known for his work in 7 Seconds, the legendary hardcore band he has led for over two decades, has spent the last few years morphing into a brilliant lo-fi home-recordist singer-songwriter. Too bad so few people have noticed. His previous full-length solo effort, Stoudamire, was largely ignored, possibly due to the music not fitting in with the image he had created in his previous, much faster much louder incarnation. As a result, most folks missed one of the finest albums of the past few years. If there's any justice, his new album Heaven's Near Wherever You Are will help to rectify the situation. In contrast to the singalong Beach Boys-meets-Elliott Smith vibe of Stoudamire, Heaven's Near Wherever You Are mines more somber (but still catchy as hell) territory, typlified by "X Girlfriend", "(Not My) Father", and "Anti-Me". Elsewhere you'll find the truly quirky "Mick Foley" and the brilliant, almost Fleetwood Mac-esque "Stumbled Into Ben". The songs are startlingly catchy and impecably well-crafted. Kevin Seconds is a pop troubadour with heart. Let him into yours and you'll be happier for it.See also: Go National."
