""Road Dreams" likely will entice few to become fans of British slide and blues guitarist Kevin Brown, for the songs seem almost quaint today given all that assaults our ears. Though this CD pales in comparison with his excellent follow up effort "Rust," there are several good songs here.Listening to "Road Dreams" has its own merits, not the least of which is the superb way Mr. Brown coaxes layers of sound from his guitar, much like Mark Knopfler (who is a fan of Mr. Brown) and reveals his deep-rooted influences from both British blues guitarists and to some extent American rhythm and blues guitarists. His almost casual vocals take a bit of getting used to, but they serve him well. Not everyone will appreciate what's here, but those who are Kevin Brown fans will likely want to add this disc to their collections."
