CD ReviewsIn recent JPOP music scene, a nice singer taka(Japanese | Tokyo, Japan | 11/26/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "I always listen to 80' Japanese pops because I dislike recent JPOP music scene. The recent JPOP have the specific music genre, hip hop, reggae etc. The reasons that I dislike the JPOP is for that I dislike the genre, however, while JPOP have received the influence of all U.S.A, they have lost their beautiful Japanese melodies, that is one of the reason, too.
Ken Hirai is a recent Jpop singer, but I think that he is a ordinary singer in good mean, he sings songs by himself singing way, unique style. Off course he will have received the influence of many domestic or foreign singers, but do not lose his great music style, for instance, the style that he cherish the beauty of JPOP melodies, in addition to them, he have evolved his unique singing tecknique as he absorbed other musician's styles. We can see the good example in Japanese old song [Ookina Fuludokei]. All Japanese without old or young, man or woman know about the song because the song is familiar with them since we were born. From the style that he choice the song, he have his special Jpop style. His songs is not so noisy or powerful. He sing by almost a cappella style, that is, singers can not sing such songs if they are not great singers. Though I reviewed this cd by chance, what I have written about him can be said in all his albums. I think that it is a good choice to buy the cheapest album if you do not know what to buy his cd. Thank you for reading poor English writing." |
