"Keith Martinson's debut CD is comprised of fourteen piano solos, eight of which are original compositions. The other six pieces are a mix of traditional hymns, folk songs, and Christian worship music. Calling his music "easy listening" rather than "new age" or one of the other general categories of instrumental music, this CD is often used as background music in home and business settings. Very pleasing to listen to, there are no rough edges or surprises, but this is music intended to soothe and inspire rather than to amuse or dazzle. The original compositions tend to be very gentle and somewhat hymn-like - direct and melodic.

The cover pieces include "The Water Is Wide," "Day By Day," and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." The CD opens with "Friend," a warm and contented piece that sets the tone for the rest of the recording. "By the Grace of God" was composed for Martinson's wedding, and has a strong sense of optimism and love - quite a beautiful piece. "Every Blessing" is full of sparkle and joyous enthusiasm, but also includes reflective moments - I like this one a lot! I also really like "Water's Edge," which is serene and peaceful. A calming grace and a feeling of peaceful introspection make this piece seem especially personal. "Path of Peace" was composed for Martinson's son's baptism - innocent and optimistic, the music is full of warmth and love. "You Are My Dream" is a beautiful love song, again optimistic and tender.

"Faith, Hope, and Love" is a very promising debut. If you are looking for peaceful, relaxing solo piano music with a very strong spiritual side, you can't go wrong with this one."
