CD Reviews
Smooth and soothing

"This album is awesome. I own 7 of Keiko Matsui's albums and this one is far and away my favorite. It is smooth and soothing all the way through, there are no vocals anywhere, and unlike some other albums, this one just gets better with every listen. Traditional Japaneese influences have featured largely in Keiko's music but with this album, she takes it to a whole new level. It is an almost new age feel that carries you through rolling tracks like Dream Walk, Presence of the Moon, and Tribal Boat. Bridge Over the Stars and A Cat on a Chimney maintain the jazz feeling while Mask and Valley simply knock you head over heels with their power. If you are a new fan of Keiko Matsui's music or contempory jazz in general, you should own this album."

"Unbelieveable tune from DREAM WALK. I have been playing piano 47 years and I have fallen in love with the way this woman plays.I happen to be a home theater designer in California and I have a full-fledged Dolby Digitalreference system here in my studio; I can hardly wait for the CD to get to me (I just heard it off FM KWAV (THE WAVE) and the price is worth it for BRIDGE OVER THE STARS alone. The engineering is perfect!"

"This was my first Keiko Matsui CD. I have since purchased two more because I loved this one so much. I was disappointed in the other two. This is a must have for any new age/jazz collection."
May be the best

"This CD and "Full Moon and the Shrine" are my favorites by Keiko. I am more partial to the latter, but it is a close call. As I wrote in my review of "Full Moon", this is one of the 1st four Keiko CDs I recommend to someone just getting started on her music (her Live and Collection CDs are the others). However, I own all 12 of her CDs and I enjoy listening to every one of them. Someone unwilling to stray from more traditional jazz, classical, or pop sounds may not like her music. It combines all of these styles and includes the sound of Japanese music. This blend, however, can be very appealing and seems to me to be worth experiencing."
A record to die for (R2D4)

"Is it jazz or new age? Who cares! This mix of Keiko Matsui on piano and keyboards, Paul Taylor playing a very Kenny G like sax, Derek Nakamoto on bass, sequencer, and synths combined with vocals by Molly Passutti, and traditional instruments played by husband Kazu Matsi, has snap, sparkle, and soul. This disk went into the CD player in my he-man stereo rig and didn't come out again for over a month. When it did, it went into the CD player in the car. No flaws, no duds, when the album is over, you're disappointed that it has to end. Have no fear, Saphire blends, and is every bit as good, if not better."
