Product DescriptionKardes Türküler is throughout the world one of the best musical ensembles currently on offer. In Turkey Kardes Türküler has enjoyed cult status for a long time now. The ''groove'' of Kardes Türküler allows breath-taking emotions and explosive tensions to be set free: soloists with huge voices, amazing drum and percussion sessions, virtuoso interludes on timbur, oud and ney that lead you astray into the mystical world of the Orient. Kardes Türküler - the name means something like ''brotherhood of folk-song'' - stands implicitly for something going beyond the artistic programme to encompass a social vision of, as before, a strongly polarised Turkey, politically, ethnically and religiously. At times there are 25 musicians and dancers who have meanwhile joined the group, representing all areas and cultures in Anatolia. Their musical guideline, as was normally the case earlier, is to employ only acoustic instruments as well as playing the traditional Anatolian folk-songs intended for a single music instrument polyphonically. Not least they have the effect of breaking up the original Anatolian musical forms and thereby creating a new dynamic. After all, the goal of these musicians is nothing less than a renewal of the folk-song within its tradition, to be able to win over a wider, and especially, young public. Giving 350 concerts reaching over 1.5 million people in 10 European countries and also in Australia, the USA, Iraq, Syria, Armenia and not least in Turkey, speaks for itself. Now, the new album ''Kerwanê (Best Of)'' is set to be released this summer through Membran (Network) - a very outstanding and emotional musical work, including many traditional folk songs and stories about love, pain & history. These are sounds and voices from the celestial spheres.
