Beautiful music, poor performance

"This is a very good CD, essential for every Sorabji-lover's collection. Most of these are among the earliest works he wrote, meaning that they are probably his easiest works to appreciate by someone who is not familiar with his music. They contain some absolutely breath-taking moments (like the big climax in Chrysilla) as well as delicate moments of tender beauty (Roses du Soir) and playful moments full of fun and humor (Pantomime). It also contains some of Sorabji's darkest moments (The Poplars). Overall, these songs have a bit of everything.
Unfortunately, however, Sorabji's music suffers from yet another inadequate performance. The pianist knows her stuff, but quite frankly, Elizabeth Farnum can hardly sing any of this music well. As soon as the music gets a bit too high for her, she starts to screech hysterically (Vocalise, for instance). Her technique really isn't up for this type of music. Honestly, by now, I wish these mediocre musicians would LEAVE SORABJI ALONE!!
But still, despite the bad performance, this is an important CD for all who enjoy KSS's music to own. I promise you, you won't be disappointed with the music!"
