K.C.'s Blues

(3 out of 5 stars)
"If I was rating my personal enjoyment factor, I would give all of KC's recordings 5 stars but that's a different matter. As with most of Mr. Doulas' recorded work, this recording is just KC and his unamplified acoustic guitar. His music is raw and sloppy, and he uses only about three riffs in his entire recorded repertoire-Definately an acquired taste. He changes his stories, however, and I love his stories! They are the usual stories...about drinkin', lovin' gone bad, and bein' broke. This is fun stuff to listen to, and it really captures the essence of the blues, but it's best suited for listening to in the car by yourself-It's not party music. If you don't yet own any KC Douglas but would like to give him a try, buy Mercury Blues first. Mercury Blues is electrified, he plays with a band, and KC is the most polished he ever was. If you like Mercury and want more, then buy this recording or Big Road Blues-You pick, it really doesn't matter; they're essentially the same material. But I own them all, I listen to them all, and I love them all-ALOT!"
