CD Reviews

It's the same politics, just less overt

"Obviously, this album is incredible. I've always thot Sane was insanely good (there's a bad pun for ya.)But I can't get over this guy, listener_of_good_music, who hates A-F for having a point of view. They don't "just scream I HATE THE GOVERNMENT!" You just have blocked out the highly cogent arguments they make in their lyrics because you're afraid of the truth. It's not anti-government at all. It's left-wing. It's anti-war. It's pro-peace. It's about CHANGING the government and the system, not destroying them. That's it. I'm out."

"Justin Sane's solo album is absolutly amazing. Quite different than the hardcore punk of anti-flag, this solo album is soft acustic guitar folk music. While Anti-flag has a specific message and lyrical content, Justin Sane's solo cd talks about many different non political subjects. There are still political songs on here too, but it is very diverse album. Its got some political songs, funny songs, love songs, emo songs, ect.
This cd is great becuase not only is Justin getting his message out with anti-flag, but now also to a different type of crowd. People who wouldnt listen to Anti-flag will enjoy the sounds on this cd, which would help get the message out to different types of people. If all the Dashboard Confessional crowd could buy this cd they would love it for its slow acustic style.
The best song on here is 61c Days turned to nights. This is without a doubt the greatest love song i've ever heard. Its the tragic story of a girl Justin loved who flew away in an airplane and never came back. BUY THIS CD."
Justin makes slight departure in sound but message remains.

"I am a newer fan of Justin Sane and Anti-Flag, and I like what he has to say and how he says it.

Recently I heard major labels are now making big noise about the band - the Wallstreet Journal even published an article on them. I hope they stay true to their roots and remain independent.

I admit I haven't been listening to Anti-Flag for long, because I got mixed reviews from several of my friends, ranging from, "They totally blow me away!" to "They're okay. I heard they actually live in huge mansions.", so I was wary for a little while. Then I heard a few songs for myself and really enjoyed it, because I'm a fan of other bands like Reagan Youth, the Dead Kennedys, Crass and the Subhumans - so this was right up my alley.

The sound on this album is a little bit of a musical departure for Justin as he explores a more "indie" sound, slighlty leaving behind the crunchy, distorted guitars of his punk rock forefathers, but his message and essential style remains the same. I don't know if I'd call him "the Bruce Springsteen of Punk Rock", but I think that this album is good for newer fans and can appeal to a large range of indie music fans - from the indie snob to the crustiest gutter punk, this album has nearly everything."
