Synopsis

Album Description
Dance floor lovers rejoice! The unabashedly infectious rock/ hip-hop/dance duo Junior Senior is "back on track for the big comeback," with the long-awaited North American release of Hey Hey My My Yo Yo. The instantly catchy album promises to be just the ticket for those way too hot and frenzied summertime parties. The dynamic Danish duo return in top, feel-good form, mashing-up their Mamas & the Papas-meets-Sugarhill Gang sound with the manic, party energy that they're known for. The sweet sounding `60s pop, `70s funk and `80s hip-hop inspired album features notable guest artists including Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson of the B-52's, Le Tigre, `60s Motown girl group the Velvelettes plus the legendary Spooner Oldham. Junior Senior first brought their explosive energy to the world with their debut D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat. Fueled by the global smash "Move Your Feet," the band quickly found both commercial success and critical acclaim, from dance clubs and roller rinks to sports stadiums. With Hey Hey My My Yo Yo Junior Senior returns with an even more hook-filled yet sophisticated and consistent album.

Recommended by a friend. This music is catchy and addictive. I'm not really sure what's going on with the bonus disc, but the first is great. It's feel good music. It's singing in the car music (what isn't?) It's party music. It's funny, silly, happy, genuine music. Highly recommended.

CD Reviews

Infectious. (In a good way!)

"Flat out joyful music. I can't stop listening to it. I rode the "Move Your Feet" wave a few years back, and sort of figured that was it, but the new stuff is catchier and deeper. The first sign came when "Itch U Can't Skratch" started showing up on mp3 blogs about a year ago. I kept reading that it was part of a new CD, but, man, did it take forever for the CD to show up!

These days, I'm stuck on "Take My Time," from the funky bass line to the bouncy synth, to the full-on dance sound that kicks in at the refrain, to the modulation at the end. 3:49 of pop genius."
Extremely danceable, but nothing brilliant

"Let's face it-- Junior Senior is never going to make a mind-blowing, epic, musically-genius album. That being said, this is still a fun CD to blast in your car.

The good songs are amazing-- "Take My Time", "Can I Get Get Get", and "Ur A Girl" are definitely the standout tracks. The mediocre songs are still good, but are somewhat tedious (like "I Like Music" and "Itch U Can't Skratch").

Although this CD is a LOT of fun, and I recommend it to people who like dance-y, indie music, the novelty does wear off eventually."
