"The June Brides existed from roughly 1983-86 and recorded some amazing singles and EP's, most notably the song "Every Conversation." The music is classic mid 80s British indie pop - akin to Orange Juice, Josef K, the Go Betweens, the Loft, the Weather Prophets, Dolly Mixture, Talulah Gosh, the Shop Assistants, and all that stuff. In 1985, they opened up for the Smiths' Irish tour.
You could call it "C86" but that would technically be wrong because the June Brides predated that cassette. Also included in this 2xCD set are bandleader Phil Wilson's solo singles recorded for CREATION RECORDS, great stuff. These guys have a cult following in the UK and both Belle and Sebastian and the Manic Street Preachers have listed them as a huge influence.
Overall, if you like any of the bands I listed above, you need to get this collection. It is well put-together with big foldout liner notes and sound great - still kinda raw but remastered well. CLASSIC JANGLY GUITAR INDIE BRITPOP!"

"Welllll...The music from top to bottom is charming and makes me smile (I wish I could say the same for the sound quality.) It's weird...most of "There Are Eight Million Stories..."sounds pretty solid yet Sunday to Saturday sounds like complete rubbish! The Phil Wilson tracks are a lovely addition to The June Brides tracks. Nice country flavored tracks. All in all I am glad I purchased this but it rubs me in a very very nasty way when one or two tracks are of poor remastered sound quality. I guess I will start seeking out the vinyl."
