"Here we go with Julius Papp driving you through the smoother side of vocal house, covering much of the Esho label landscape. Stretching beyond his DJ duties, Papp whips up some of the finer treats himself in "Lookin Up" and the sun soaked guitar playing "Libido." Talented chap Dave Warrin (under various guises) also displays top form, slicing off some ice-cool grooves, as Mindflight for the twinkling "Lightsource" and superb, shimmering "Shine On." Even the handful of outsourced 12" singles prove tasty, The Rurals "Window Pain" flecking key arrangements over forlorn, pared-down lyrics, blissfully understated. Throwing some spice in the air, Los Ladrones add the final touches, South American style, on "Las Luches Del Norte," It's all gentile and prettily arranged, just how some of us like it, thank you. Post-night magic for candlelight accompaniment, it's a shame product like this from Ismrecords lies too far underground to blip the radar. grade: 4.5 stars"

"I love it when I happen upon a little music gem, such as Escho Funi, Vol. 1. Even though years has passed since its release in 2001, I still find the beats and the melodies timeless and enduring. My favorite tracks are:



Airstream...the voice is ethereal and puts you in a beautiful mood like no other.

Feeling Me, Feeling You



Overall, this is a beautifully mixed cd and should be apart of any house music lover's collection. I am anxious to see what other gems Julius Papp has to offer."

"This is a absolutely Great CD. This is the kind of CD that is sure to get any party started right. Julius does some of his best mixing ever, and the tunes that he chose to spin on this disc are filled with Phat, Deep & Hard edged beats.
Papp delivers a beautifully constructed dancefloor gem with the tune "Looking Up", with sexy, sensual vocals added this track is one of my favorites. Another rhythm filled groove is the track "Window Pain", with it's deep infectious bassline, how could you not wanna get up and dance to this mesmerizing peice of soul-filled funk!!!!All in all, this is a must have for any lover of true deep house. I can't wait to see if Papp can out do himself with volume 2....."
