CD Reviews

First and Foremost, an Incredible Rock Record.
Jason Leopold | Southern California | 03/11/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Julien-K may not realize it, but their first album proper is an achievement on several fronts: an album that manages to sound current yet timeless. Then there's the quality of the music. Think The Faint but smarter. And, most importantly, although Death to Analog is an album firmly rooted in electronica it's an album that, upon first listen, comes across first and foremost as a great rock record. Pretty Hate Machine was the last full-length that had that kind of impact on the listener and regardless of whether you're a NIN fan or not it's no easy task to create a "genre" record that also manages to be a great rock record with massive commercial and crossover appeal. But that's exactly the kind of album Julien-K has made. Kick the Bass is pulsating, danceable, and fist-in-the-air anthem-ic. Death to Analog is the Pretty Hate Machine for the Me generation. Crank it up and enjoy."

"As a fan of this music, I can say, that without a doubt this is one of the best albums I have ever purchased. The songs have very emotional lyrics that gave me chills the first time I listened through.

Songs like 'Forever,' 'Stranded,' and 'Spiral' are stand out tracks. I had heard 'Spiral' many times before, but all the tracks that were not previously played live or released as samples completely blew me away.

Even the cover of 'Nvr Say Nvr' (originally by Romeo Void) was very well done. I've never heard a cover of that song that really made me say wow, until now.

Keep up the good work guys, it was well worth the 5 year wait!"
A great album. There isn't a bad track

"Julien-K is a new force in the music world. They have been influenced by and have a sound that Depeche Mode would be proud to associate themselves with. The album starts with Death To Analog and rocks all the way through the last synth beat. This album is worth the download and worth every penny.

The best tracks on this album are hard to select. Many of the bands loyal fans prefer whatever track is playing and can't select one themselves. Look at U, Kick The Bass, and Death To Analog were some of the original songs the band wrote. Those 3 tracks and Dystopian Girl remind many of Ryan and Amir's roots in Orgy. The Romeo Void cover Nvr Say Nvr brings a unique feel to a know 80s track. Forever, Futura (DTA Mix), and Disease show the Depeche Mode influence the most. System De Sexe has the most emotional response from everyone.

With a first single in Kick The Bass the band shows they are here to change the world. Having a style all their own the band is unique from their dress that is created for them to their sound to their love of their fans. This band wants to change the world, the music business, lives and brings their fans along for the ride."
